Community Guide Branch
The Community Guide Branch provides administrative, research, and technical support of the Community Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force). The Task Force is an independent, non-Federal, uncompensated panel of public health and prevention experts appointed by the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whose members represent a broad range of research, practice, and policy expertise in community preventive services, public health, health promotion, and disease prevention. In all aspects of its work, the Task Force seeks input from partner organizations and agencies, and from individual policy makers, practitioners, and researchers. Many of the nation’s leading public health practice and research agencies and organizations hold official Liaison status with the Task Force. The Community Guide Branch supports the Task Force by:
- Conducting state-of-the science systematic reviews that assess the effectiveness and economics of community-based prevention programs, services, and policies in saving lives and preventing disease, disability, and injury. The branch presents completed reviews to the Task Force so it can develop findings and recommendations.
- Enhancing dissemination of Task Force recommendations and providing technical assistance to those that request help in implementing recommendations.
