Registration open for Free CDC Waived Testing Online Course
Each year, 70% of medical decisions depend on 14 billion laboratory tests. Many of these tests performed require no routine regulatory oversight under a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Certificate of Waiver from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The need for waived testing training is increasing and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is here to help.
Today, CDC launches the online training course “Ready? Set? Test!.” This basic-level, free eLearning course provides clinical laboratory testing personnel the basic training necessary to safely and accurately perform waived patient testing. This training helps participants minimize the adverse impact to patients that inaccurate waived testing results can produce.
Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the CLIA requirements for performing waived testing.
- Follow the current manufacturer’s instructions for the test.
- Describe good testing practices to use while performing waived tests.
- Receive continuing education credits.
Target Audience: Laboratory staff members performing patient testing with waived tests.
CEUs: CDC has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. CDC is authorized by IACET to offer 0.1 ANSI/IACET CEUs for this program.
