Forty-three influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2009--10 influenza season beginning August 30, 2009 have been reported. One hundred and fifteen influenza-associated pediatric death occurring during the 2008-09 influenza season have been reported. * No measles cases were reported for the current week. ††† Data for meningococcal disease (all serogroups) are available in Table II. §§§ CDC discontinued reporting of individual confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses infections on July 24, 2009. CDC will report the total number of novel influenza A (H1N1) hospitalizations and deaths weekly on the CDC H1N1 influenza website (http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu). ¶¶¶ In 2008, Q fever acute and chronic reporting categories were recognized as a result of revisions to the Q fever case definition. As a result, TB provisional incidence counts for 2009 are now reported from the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) and the Tuberculosis Information Management System (TIMS) data sources. Previously, provisional TB incidence counts were reported through the National Electronic Telecommunications System for Surveillance (NETSS). The 2009 TB provisional incidence counts are low in some reporting jurisdictions as these areas continue to catch up with data entry and transmission to CDC during this transition. † CDC is in the process of upgrading the national surveillance data management system for human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
