简介
我们想了解主流报纸和少数族裔报纸如何报导癌症风险,以判定这2类报纸是否不同,并考察可能预测最佳风险传达的新闻报导及资料来源的特征。

方法
最佳风险传达的定义是介绍绝对风险、相对风险和预防反应功效信息的组合。我们对 2003 年癌症新闻报导 (主要报纸 5327 篇,少数族裔报纸 565 篇) 作了内容分析。通过这一方法收集数据。我们运用交叉图表和 Pearson χ2检验法进行统计学意义的检验,以此进行主流报纸和少数族裔报纸的对比。用逻辑回归等式计算最佳风险传达的胜算比和 95% 信赖区间。

结果
这两类报纸都很少用数字传达癌症风险。而使用数字表达癌症风险时,仅有 26.2% 的主流报纸报导和 29.5% 的少数族裔报纸报导提供绝对风险和相对风险的估算值。就这两类报纸而言,只有 19% 的新闻报导以最佳方式传达风险。重点报导前列腺癌、报导新研究或讨论医疗或人口统计学上的风险时,癌症风险得到最佳传达的机率较高。

结论
需要研究这类不用数字、离开具体情境的风险表达可能如何促成报纸读者对风险的不准确认识。
