Smoking (1), was released on March 27, 2001. This report updates and expands the 1980 Surgeon General's report,
The Health Consequences of Smoking for
Women, and examines various facets of smoking among women: patterns of tobacco use, health consequences of
smoking, social and individual factors influencing cigarette smoking and smokeless tobacco
use, and prevention and cessation programs and policies.
