Vision and Eye Health Surveillance System Help

An Overview of VEHSS

CDC’s Vision Health Initiative (VHI) and the non-partisan and objective research organization NORC at the University of Chicago partnered together to develop the National Vision and Eye Health Surveillance System (VEHSS).

VEHSS reports prevalence information from existing data sources to help health professionals, researchers, policy makers, and patients understand the scope of US vision loss, eye disorders, and eye care services. VEHSS is also combining information from multiple data sources to create the VEHSS Composite Prevalence Estimates – our primary estimates of the total prevalence of visual acuity loss and major eye disorders.
