The Vision Loss Economic Explorer is designed to provide information on the economic impact of vision loss on the nation and states. The Explorer has three main pages:

  • Explorer Home – Two maps display the economic burden of vision loss (total costs and cost-per-person) by state. Learn how to get around the home page and use the maps.
  • Detailed Results – Shows detailed cost results for the state you select, or national totals. Graphs present costs by category, and for each category, costs by subcategory. Learn how to get around the detailed results page, and use the charts.
  • Overview and Definitions – Provides an overview of the Explorer and definitions and brief methods for each cost category and subcategory.
