The Jungle (Sylvatic) Cycle

Mosquitoes breed in tree holes in the forest canopy, or in tree holes on the edge of forested areas, such as banana plantations. Monkeys become infected when bitten by infected mosquitoes. The virus continues transmission as other mosquitoes bite infected monkeys. Humans become exposed to the virus when bitten by an infected mosquito.
