Types of CE for Health Professionals

CDC is accredited by five organizations to provide nine types of Continuing Education (CE) for U.S. health professionals and the global public health community. Access to credits, continuing education units (CEUs), and contact hours for all educational activities is provided at no cost.

In support of improving patient care, CDC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Under Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE), CDC is accredited to provide CE for

• Physicians
• Physician Assistants
• Pharmacists
• Nurses

Registered nurses should request continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours. Most U.S. State Boards of Nursing accept ANCC contact hours. California and Iowa licensed registered nurses have special considerations.

CDC is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU for

CDC is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. for

• Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®)
• Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®)

CDC is an approved provider of CPH Recertification Credits by the National Board of Public Health Examiners for

• Certified Public Health Professionals (CPH)

CDC is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards, Registry of Approved Continuing Education to provide AAVSB/RACE contact hours for
