National State-Based Tobacco Control Programs
The Office on Smoking and Health announced the award of FY 2015 funding to support the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based environmental, policy, and systems interventions, strategies, and activities to reduce tobacco use, secondhand smoke exposure, tobacco-related disparities and associated disease, disability, and death. These non-research, domestic coopertive agreements have two components. The Core Component was awarded to state health departments that proposed to implement a state-based tobacco control program using an evidence-based, comprehensive approach. The Competitive Component was awarded to four to seven applicants and sought to advance evidence-based tobacco control through developing, implementing, and rigorously evaluating innovative and/or promising practices.
