2013 Funding (Year 4)

  • Amount of funding: $249,987
  • Description of Project
    Awardee will:
    • Continue progress toward the development of a community health assessment and collaborative community health improvement plan
    • Organize and prepare the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) Division of Public Health workforce for accreditation through the development and institutionalization of an accreditation team and documentation gathering for accreditation
    • Institutionalize a quality and performance management system
    • Continue collaboration with the CHCC hospital division to improve quality of data infrastructure via the development of a comprehensive and centralized repository of clinical and community health data

2012 Funding (Year 3)

  • Amount of funding: $249,163
  • Description of Project
    Awardee will:
    • Develop a community health assessment and community health improvement plan to complete Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) public health accreditation requirements
    • Complete an organizational self-assessment to identify gaps in meeting PHAB standards
    • Collaborate with internal partners to improve health information technology and communications infrastructure
    • Develop, implement, and adopt an agency-wide performance management system

2011 Funding (Year 2)

  • Amount of funding: $249,993
  • Description of Project
    Awardee will:
    • Support the Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands' (CNMI) Performance Improvement Program (PIP), which was established in September 2010 to increase the capacity and ability of the CNMI Department of Public Health to meet accreditation standards and to systematically use performance data and performance measures to ensure that public health activities lead to improved health outcomes
    • Increase efficiencies in our public health program operations by providing additional support for performance improvement and management practices
    • Increase public health accreditation readiness by providing capacity and support to meet application requirements and accreditation standards by the Public Health Accreditation Board
    • Continue activities of the Performance Improvement Program from year one
    • Obtain services of four consultants who have technical expertise in the following areas: performance improvement management and training, standard operating procedures manual development, community health improvement and strategic planning, and public health accreditation

2010 Funding (Year 1)

Component I

  • Amount of funding: $100,000
  • Description of Project:
    Awardee will:
    • Focus on building, institutionalizing, and implementing performance management capacity within health departments
    • Support full-time "Performance Improvement Manager" who will participate in a national network of performance improvement professionals supported by CDC

Component II

Component II funding was applied through Pacific Island Health Officers Association (PIHOA).
