Gemifloxacin is no longer a treatment option for gonnorhea.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported a shortage of gemifloxacin on 5/27/2015. Gemifloxacin plus azithromycin is an alternative regimen for the treatment of gonorrhea in the presence of cephalosporin allergy. Other alternative regimens are outlined in the 2015 STD Treatment Guidelines.
