  • Ending the HIV epidemic begins with expanded HIV testing to reach the estimated 154,000 people who have HIV and don’t know it.
  • Among people who know they have HIV, only 63% had a suppressed viral load in 2017; by taking HIV medicine routinely, they can stay healthy and have effectively no risk of sexual transmission—according to the latest Vital Signs report.
  • Healthcare providers can help patients prevent HIV acquisition by prescribing pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, to the 1.2 million people who could benefit from it.
