  • Deaths caused by heart conditions are largely preventable, but between 1999 and 2015, heart disease caused 1 in 4 deaths.
  • The new Vital Signs report provides state-level data about deaths, hospitalizations, and emergency room visits due to heart attack, stroke, and other heart conditions.
  • States can use Million Hearts® toolsexternal icon and materialsexternal icon to drive the changes that will prevent 1 million or more heart attacks and strokes by 2022.
