Career Epidemiology Field Office (CEFOs)

CEFOs are CDC epidemiologists with experience in surveillance, epidemiology, preparedness, research, training, and policy development. Their mission is to strengthen state, tribal, local, and territorial epidemiology capacity for public health preparedness and response

Preparedness Field Assignees (PFAs)

PFAs are recent graduates of CDC’s Public Health Associate Program who are assigned to serve three years in the field as CDC employees in state and local public health departments to continue their preparedness developmental experience.

Regional Medical Countermeasure (MCM) Specialists

Regional MCM specialists consult on MCM planning, including Strategic National Stockpile related issues, and support trainings, exercises, and incidents. The regional staff support the 10 HHS regions in the U.S, covering the 50 states and 8 territories and freely associated states.

Public Health Advisor (PHA) Field Assignees

PHAs are PHEP specialists that provide direct assistance to the PHEP funding recipients. PHAs provide technical assistance and advice for the successful completion of cooperative agreements
