Cardiac Signs or Symptoms That Warrant Immediate Action

Some signs or symptoms may indicate complications of Chagas disease that merit immediate evaluation and intervention.

Cardiac warning signs include syncope, ventricular tachycardia, high grade AV block and/or marked bradycardia.

Cardiac alterations Evaluate for
Pre-syncope or syncope Arrhythmias, heart block, thrombus
Transient ischemic attack Thrombus, atrial fibrillation
Atypical chest pain Cardiac ischemia, esophageal causes
Ventricular tachycardia, sustained or nonsustained Need for antiarrhythmics, catheter ablation, implantable defibrillator
High grade atrioventricular block Need for pacemaker
Marked sinus bradycardia or other bradyarrhythmias Need for pacemaker
