Become a PFA Host Site
Thank you for your interest. The application periods for Preparedness Field Assignees and PFA host sites are closed. The next application cycle will open in February 2019.
CDC’s Division of State and Local Readiness (DSLR) is committed to supporting the development of public health preparedness staff by providing hands-on experience in preparedness program operations for PFAs who, in turn, simultaneously make significant contributions within PHEP jurisdictions. The PFA program is dedicated to having well-trained DSLR staff working alongside state and local public health preparedness professionals to ensure a robust and competent workforce.
Each year, DSLR seeks a limited number of PHEP cooperative agreement recipients to host a PFA for a three-year term.
Host Site Testimonials
“The PFA program provides trained professionals to join your team which means there is no gap in services needed to provide training. This program is a win-win for both the assignee as well as the organization.”
“I have recommended the PFA program to my colleagues across the state. With extreme cut backs to state office staff, this is an ideal way for programs to continue to provide the needed services of community preparedness and emergency response.”
“They provide fresh perspective and energy that encourages innovation and creativity in meeting program requirements.”
