CDC Initiatives to Prevent or Manage Childhood Obesity in Healthcare
Healthcare providers and health systems can implement strategies that prevent or manage excess weight for health during childhood. The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends that children and adolescents aged 6 years and older be screened for obesity. The Task Force also recommends that those with obesity be offered or referred to family-centered, comprehensive, intensive behavioral interventions to promote improvements in weight status.
