Project Description

Short Summary

This project provides coordination support for the following activities:

1) Supporting the NORA Construction Sector Council (N-CSC);

2) Supporting the NIOSH Construction Program Steering Committee

3) Supporting enhanced interaction and outreach to construction stakeholders in order to implement NORA Construction goals and expand NIOSH Construction Program Activities.

Activity 1 -The N-CSC will hold 2 face-to-face meetings during FY08. These will focus on implementation of our NORA goals. One meeting is projected to be held in Washington, DC and one is projected to be held in Chicago, Illinois.

Activity 2 The NIOSH Construction steering committee will need to meet this year to develop and implement an implementation plan to respond to the National Academies review of the NIOSH Construction Program. This will be done by piggybacking a daylong meeting onto the 2 NORA meetings.

Activity 3 - Getting traction for NORA will require outreach about these goals to various key construction stakeholders. This will involve presentations about NORA goals at stakeholder meetings and conferences, along with development of outreach materials. These activities are critical to generating and sustaining working partnerships that can lead to future intermediate outcomes and impacts.

The goal of this ongoing project is to 1) assure that the NORA Construction Sector Council is engaged to implement the National Construction Agenda developed under the auspices of NORA; 2) assure that the NIOSH Construction Program fulfills its mandate to respond to the recommendations of the National Academies report; and 3) to build and strengthen relationships with construction stakeholders via outreach to increase their knowledge of NORA and NIOSH to recruit their participation in NORA . The purpose is to generate intermediate and end outcomes in support of the National Construction Agenda goals.
