Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant

The Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, located in Piketon, Ohio, began operating in 1954. The plant was created to enrich uranium used in commercial and naval reactors. Today, the site is undergoing remediation to remove environmental contaminants.¹ The plant is now used to decontaminate uranium feed materials and for specialized support services.²
