- NPPTL began conducting research to inform NIOSH Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) recommendations for Ebola.
- NPPTL evaluated designs for the Fighting Ebola: A Grand Challenge Development.
- 16 states proclaimed September 5th as N95 day.
2015
- NPPTL published Ebola gown and coverall guidance.
- NPPTL introduced PPE-Info, a product and standards database for PPE.
2016
- NPPTL released the Hospital Respiratory Protection Resources
2018
- NPPTL made partnerships with federal, state, city, and county stockpiles.
- NPPTL glove research used to protect first responders during the opioid epidemic.
- On May 17th, NIOSH and FDA began to work together to certify surgical N95s.
- NPPTL was invited to join the EPA Wildfire Guide Team.
2019
- NPPTL hosted its 1st Respiratory Protection Week from September 3-6.
- 2019 marked 100 years of respiratory protection in the United States.
2020
- NIOSH received 1.7 times more approval decisions, 3.9 times more site and product audits, and 14.2 times more public inquiries than the average number of each from 2012-2019.
- NIOSH approved the 1st elastomeric respirator without an exhalation valve on October 22.
- NPPTL evaluated nearly 4,000 stockpiled respirators and over 800 stockpiled gowns to support COVID-19 efforts.
- NPPTL published a technical report on FFRs with exhalation valves effecting guidance.
- NPPTL tested 6,749 international respirators finding 57% as sub-standard.
2021
- NIOSH and BARDA launched the “Mask Innovation Challenge” to improve respirator designs.
- NPPTL began to work with 40 partners to improve elastomeric half mask respirator
