Subject: Implementation Plan for the Respirator Certification Fees

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) is holding a meeting for all respirator manufacturers to discuss the implementation plan for the Respirator Certification Fees. The new fees will be in effect as of May 26, 2015.

The meeting will be held on March 18, 2015 from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the NIOSH NPPTL facility in Pittsburgh. Remote participation will also be available. Registration is required for on-site as well as remote participation. Log in instructions will be forwarded to those registered for remote participation by March 16.

The draft agendapdf icon is available on the NPPTL website, as well as a Q&A documentpdf icon with a few of the anticipated questions. NIOSH staff will attempt to answer as many questions as possible at the March 18 meeting. You may submit questions to be addressed at the meeting to NPPTLEventsPublic@cdc.gov prior to the meeting. This will help us in preparing for the meeting. Presentations for the meeting will be posted the week prior to the meeting to enable those who wish to print a hard copy prior to the meeting time to do so.

Because the meeting is being held at the NIOSH NPPTL site, all participants must preregister by March 16. All meeting attendees are required to present valid photo identification before being admitted to the site. For U.S. citizens, a valid driver’s license is preferred. Foreign nationals must present the same documents submitted with the visitor registration form (current passport, entry visa, or permanent residency card) at the security gate on the day of their visit.

Note to participants attending in person: A metal detector has been installed in the Security Office. In addition to the car search, all visitors are required to pass through the metal detector before being granted access. Please allow extra time to clear security the morning of the meeting.

Non-U.S. citizens – There are additional requirements for non-U.S. citizens to enter a federal facility. Prior to approval for access being granted, all paperwork, including a copy of your passport, entry visa, or permanent residency card, must be submitted to NIOSH NPPTL by February 27, 2015.

Once your meeting registration form, indicating you are not a U.S. Citizen, is received you will receive an email from CDC International Visitor Requests. This email will include a link to a secure site requesting additional information.

CDC approval must be established before entry to the CDC NIOSH site will be permitted. All foreign nationals must present the same documents submitted with the visitor registration form (current passport, entry visa, or permanent residency card) at the security gate on the day of your visit. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Karen Harvey at 412-386-4084.

Members of the Technology Evaluation Branch will be available for one-on-one meetings from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 17 and from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 19. If you would like to schedule time to discuss quality assurance, project review or certification issues, or laboratory operations and post-certification monitoring activities, please contact Tom Pouchot via email. Tom may also be reached by telephone at 412-386-4036

Lodging: There are several hotels in close proximity to the NIOSH site.

Lunch: We will be offering a box lunch option that will be delivered to the meeting room. The box lunch includes a sandwich, deli salad, chips, and a drink. The cost is $8.00 per person (cash only) which must be paid that morning. The selection information is included on the registration form.

Questions can be directed to Jeff Peterson, phone 412-386-4014, or NPPTLEventsPublic@cdc.gov.
