The National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) <a href="http://www.hearingconservation.org"target="_blank">(www. hearingconservation.org)</a> and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/noise/"target="_blank">(https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/ topics/noise/)</a> invite you to ' Explore the world of hearing loss prevention ' in this supplemental issue of the International Journal of Audiology (IJA). Hearing conservationists and researchers from around the globe explored the ' world of hearing loss prevention ' during NHCA ' s 35th annual conference held in Orlando, Florida in February 2010. The theme for this conference was generated by the desire to expand the traditional boundaries of hearing loss prevention beyond a purely regulatory initiative mandated by governments, and learn from the experiences of others from across the globe. The ' world ' in the context of this conference included not only global perspectives and expertise but also addressed nontraditional populations, innovative approaches, new dimensions, and the ever expanding world of technology as they related to hearing loss prevention. Although, the full spirit of this conference cannot be captured in a journal, we hope this supplement provides the reader with an expanded view of hearing loss prevention and the value of exchanging ideas globally.
