Investigadores de NIOSH trabajaron con profesionales de la industria para identificar cómo ocurre la exposición de los artistas corporales a la sangre y los patógenos transmitidos por la sangre. Con base en las visitas a los salones donde se realizan tatuajes y perforaciones corporales y en las entrevistas a los artistas que proporcionan este servicio, se elaboraron materiales dirigidos a los artistas para que tengan una mejor información sobre estas enfermedades, sepan cómo ocurre la exposición y cómo reforzar las prácticas de seguridad que disminuyan esas posibilidades de exposición.
