This publication is the first edition of the subfile of agricultural chemicals and pesticides extracted from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances. The objective of this subfile is to assemble in one volume those chemicals identified in the literature as having agricultural application. The actions of regulatory agencies, especially those of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and changing agricultural practices preclude the assemble of a list of all substances in current use. This subfile, therefore, contains data on substances identified in the literature as used or proposed for use in agriculture. This subfile contains 2190 substances arranged alphabetically in the same format as that found in the annual edition of the Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances. This compilation should provide a ready reference of the potential hazard of agricultural chemicals found in the workplace, and should be useful to occupational health physicians, industrial hygienists, toxicologists, and researchers. A better understanding of potential workplace health problems through the use of this compilations should help to achieve a more healthful workplace.
