A dielectrophoretic separator for the continuous separation of particulate and granulated materials is described, which separator comprises, in combination: a vessel containing a liquid dielectric medium, an electrode configuration disposed within the vessel and including a cylinder shaped rotatable electrode having a nonuniform conductor surface and an arcuate-shaped perforated electrode spaced radially outward from the rotatable electrode to define a contact zone therewith; and means for applying a source of voltage to the electrode configuration to produce a divergent electric field in the contact zone, wherein the particulate and granular materials are immersed in the divergent electric field.
