Manufacture of Lignite Binder Pitch.
U S Pat 3 801 342 1974 Apr; :
Binder pitch suitable to metallurgical electrode production is prepared from new pitch obtained from low-temperature carbonization of liquids. Aliphatics from crude pitch are removed by solvent extraction before the thermal treatment (e.g., delayed coking, thermal cracking). Binder pitch is recovered as the residual fraction. The preferred solvent is trimethylpentane.
