Abstract
Zirconium is precipitated selectively from a solution containing zr and u by treatment with tartaric acid or a tartrate. Thus, a solution with a h+ concentration 0.44N and containing zr 23, cl- 3.8, So42- 120 g/l and u 12 ppm relative to zr was treated with ammonium tartrate and methyl alcohol. The precipitate formed was a zirconium tartrate containing 27.5-27.7 pct zr and contained 2.78 Ppm u relative to the zr.
