U S Pat 3 716 615 1973 Feb; :
Copper-bearing ore is leached with a copper-chelating organic agent having a stability constant >5, whereby the cu is extracted from the ore. The leachate is then brought to a ph of at least 13, e.g., by adding NaOH. The resulting solution is contacted with a reducing agent, e.g., H2, whereby Cu2O is precipitated in 99 pct yield and 99.7 pct purity.
