U S Pat 3 992 327 1976 Nov; :
Catalysts and adsorbents with high surface-to-weight ratios were prepared by attrition grinding. This increases the catalytic and adsorbent properties. Catalysts were prepared by attrition milling natural a-quartz to obtain a surface area of 115.6 M2/g. The product was tested as a cracking catalyst for hexane and as adsorbent for hexane and as a dehydration catalyst for ethyl alcohol. Catalysts also were prepared by attrition grinding of mn- doped al2o3.
