Bubble-injected Hydrocyclone Flotation Cell.

An apparatus is described for selectively separating a mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic mineral particles. A cylindrical lower body having an exit for the underflow is attached to an inverted conical upper body having a vortex finder tube extending from its top axially to the merger zone at the junction of the two sections of the apparatus. A tangential tube near the top of the conical section serves to introduce a mineral pulp feed, and another tangential tube just below that serves to introduce a slurry of fine bubbles from an external bubble generator. The overflow exits the apparatus by way of the vortex finder tube.
