This report provides a comprehensive compilation of information for the development and design of a mine hoist system. The research was divided into two phases. Phase I was a search of world literature pertinent to the analysis of hoisting systems. Phase II consisted of summarizing operating information and recommendations from manufacturers, hoist operators, and consultants on methods for selection and design of hoist systems and components.
