Person Wearable Self-contained Self-rescuer (Pw-scsr).
Gluckauf 1991 Aug; 15/16:682-684(In German)
This paper discusses the results of a joint U.S. Bureau of Mines- Mine Safety and Health Administration project to advance self- contained self-rescuer (scsr) technology. It has been shown to be technically possible to produce an scsr that is approximately twice the size and weight of a filter self-rescuer (fsr) and that has a rated duration of 60 min. Such an oxygen-breathing apparatus can be worn on a miner's body, making it immediately available in the event of a mine emergency. This paper presents the research program leading to the successful development of the new PW-SCSR technology, as well as the preliminary results of underground field trials of PW- SCSR's.
