Results of Bureau of Mines studies show that mineral processing techniques can be used to recover both brass and sand from brass foundry wastes. Both recovered products are suitable for recycling. In this instance, about 90 percent of the waste was recovered for recycle. An evaluation of the process showed favorable economics. A cooperating foundry is currently introducing a recovery unit.
