Stability of an Underground Room in Frozen Gravel.

A 9.14- By 21.3- By 2.4-M-high room in frozen gravel near Fairbanks, Alaska, was heavily instrumented, then monitored for over 3 years. The room was stable and no artificial supports were needed at -5 deg. C or colder.
