Cost Estimation and Power Requirements of Centrifugal Gas Compressors.
Trans Amer Assoc Cost Eng 15th Ann Meeting and 1st Internat Symp Montreal Canada :3 pages
The Bureau of Mines has written a computer program for the preliminary estimation of costs and power requirements of centrifugal gas compressors for two types of operation (1) in which interstage cooling follows each stage, and (2) in which interstage cooling follows every third stage. Well-known relationships were used to estimate the number of stages, temperature, pressure, compression ratio, input cfm, head, and horsepower. The compression ratio was limited to that which would develop a maximum of 15,000 feet of head which was equivalent to a peripheral velocity of slightly less than 1,000 feet per second per stage. Costs were estimated from an equation relating total horsepower and cost.
