Catalytic Dehydrogenation of Coal: Part 6. Yield of Hydrogen from Whole Coals.

Fuel 1971 Apr; 50(2):152-156
Eight whole coals have been catalytically dehydrogenated in this study. The results are compared with dehydrogenation of vitrinites from bituminous coals, and it is found that the yields of hydrogen gas are only slightly lower when the whole coals are used. In a commercial process, therefore, whole coals would be suitable for catalytic dehydrogenation without separation of macerals.
