Forecasting the future for the fluorspar industry is similar to forecasting the future growth of the chemical, steel, and aluminum industries, because about 96 percent of the flurospar is consumed by these industries. Certain phases of these basic industries are dependent on flurospar, and no economical substitute has been found to replace it or its fluorine derivatives. It is expected that fluorspar demand for the next 10 years, or longer, will increase at least 4 percent per year.
