Separation and identification of minerals from Northern Great Plains Province lignite.
Paulson-LE; Beckering-W; Fowkes-WW
Fuel 1972 Jul; 51(3):224-227
Minerals were separated from nine lignite samples on the basis of specific gravity differences by float/sink of fine particles in carbon tetrachloride. Examination of the sink fractions showed the presence of nacrite, barite, pyrite, hematite, quartz, calcite, gypsum, and fragments of a mixture of a-quartz and nacrite. No separable minerals were found in which sodium was a major constituent.
