Effect of Moisture and Temperature on the Fracture Morphology of Dacite.

A direct relation was found between point-load tensile strength and percentage of void fracture in a series of dacite disks. Dried disks yielded higher tensile strengths and more void fracturing than did water-saturated disks. The behavior of certain ceramic materials is compared with that of dacite to show similarities and to form a basis for understanding dacite behavior.
