These test data were obtained in the Bureau of Mines program "fuels and engine systems to enhance fuel economy in clean air cars." The equipment used was a 1973 chevrolet 350-cid engine modified to 10.25:1 Compression ratio and was equipped with a single-bed catalytic converter (sometimes referred to as three-component control catalyst) for control of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and oxides of nitrogen. The catalytic converter used on the engine was furnished by the universal oil products (uop) company.
