Rubber World 1970 May; 162(2):66-69
Low-temperature lignite tar pitch was found to be a suitable feedstock for producing carbon black by thermal decomposition in pilot plant combustion equipment. Yields ranged from 16.5 percent at 1,800 deg f to 37 percent at 2,500 deg f, and the product compared favorably with commercial-grade carbon black.
