Abstract
A variety of hypodermic syringes were tested for efficiency of sampling and storage of gases commonly encountered in mine atmospheres. Quantitative retention of fixed gases and methane was measured by gas chromatographic comparison with gas standards. The most suitable type of syringe was selected on the basis of efficiency and cost.
