Evaluation of thermal methods for recovery of viscous oils in Missouri and Kansas.

This report (Grant No. G0133100) presents an economic analysis of four hypothetical heavy oil deposits that were considered to be representative of those found in the Missouri-Kansas border area. Oil production obtainable by various thermal recovery methods was computed for each of the four cases. Development and production costs were estimated, and the oil prices that would yield specified discounted cash flow rates of return on investment were computed. It was concluded that the best deposits are probably economically recoverable at current new oil prices, provided there is no major adverse revision in tax regulations.
