Abstract
The report describes iron ore pellet induration studies in the Bureau of Mines Twin Cities (Minnesota) Metallurgy Research Center grate- kiln pilot plant with a pulverized-coal fired gun-type "suspension" burner and a cyclone-type "slagging" burner. Preliminary results on the use of the cyclonic burner to fire an external combustion chamber of the type used on a commercial shaft pelletizing furnace are also presented.
