Abstract
In research conducted by the Bureau of Mines, the normal total emittance was measured on polished specimens of Be, Hf, Nb, Ta, Ti, V and Zr over the temperature range approximately 400 to 850 K. The normal spectral reflectance over the wavelength range 0.4 to 40 um was determined for these same metals at room temperature. The emittance values calculated at 300 K from reflectance data agreed with the emittance curves. Emittance and reflectance data of other investigators are included for comparison.
