Preliminary experiments in pellet induration using a coal-fired cyclone combustor.
Skillings' Min Rev 1976 Jun; 65(23):1, 6-14
This paper describes preliminary pilot plant research at the Bureau of Mines Twin Cities (Minnesota) Metallurgy Research Center with an experimental pulverized coal-fired cyclone "slagging" combustor for indurating iron oxide pellets in a rotary kiln. The slagging combustor was investigated because of its potential ability to burn low ash fusion temperature subbituminous coals and lignites without incurring kiln ringing as was the case with a suspension-type burner using these same types of solid fuels.
