Trace elements in the combustible fraction of urban refuse.
Proc Int'l Conf on Environmental Sensing & Assessment 1(3-4):1-6
The combustible fraction of urban refuse is being considered for use as a supplement to coal for energy production, but little data is available that can be used to evaluate its pollution potential. To fill this need for environmental impact information, the Bureau of Mines has initiated research to determine the concentrations of the trace, minor, and major elements in the combustibles separated from municipal refuse. Sampling and analysis of the combustibles are discussed, and comparisons are made with the elemental concentrations in coal and fly ash.
