Florida stakes its claim in the uranium market.
Min Eng 1979 Sep; 31(9):1324-1325
Florida has some of the world's greatest phosphate rock deposits, a portion of which are uraniferous. Until recently, the uranium contained in phosphate rock had been ignored, but spot market prices in the $40 per pound range have spurred actions that will soon transform the state into a major uranium supplier. This paper presents data on Florida's uranium base, current uranium activities in the state, and estimates Florida's potential as a uranium producer.
