NTIS: PB 204 151 :1-15
Spark-source mass spectrometry has been used to determine the amounts of minor and trace elements in coal particles of various sizes, including the respirable range (<5 mircons). Fifty-six elements ranging in concentration from 0.1 Ppm wt to 5,000 ppm wt have been determined. The investigation of coal and coal ash has shown that the organic material in coal does not interfere with the spark-source determination of the various elements.
